Understanding Martial Arts Philosophy

Ten thousand changes no surprises, just what did that mean?

Often in training one will hear these phrases, kotodama, words that have power behind them.

Expressing strategies, understandings, and ways of navigating these are not intellectual and cannot be understood through the intellect.

The martial arts are not academic.

So how do we approach this understanding?

Through movement.

Movement as a method of philosophy.

Movement as a way to see natural law, universal law in motion and action.

A way to *feel* these expression, and in feeling them, a chance to catch that moment, catch that feeling.

There is nothing more to do, just train.

Located in Westchester New York, the Bujinkan Shinmyoken Dojo is martial arts training group founded in 2006 with the aim of coming together as martial arts friends to study the Japanese martial art of Masaaki Hatsumi through the lessons of the Bujinkan dojo.

As friends (buyu) we come together to grow, learn, and share our individual potential in this wonderful martial art.

Questions, comments, feedback, and inquiries may be emailed to the group here: BujinkanShinmyoken@gmail.com.
