Training Outside Of The Martial Arts

An entire set of skills related to the martial arts, outside of the martial arts, yet connected to the martial arts.

Skills and methods of living and moving that will help assist you in being the best martial artist that you can be.

A few to explore and keep in mind as you begin or continue your martial journey…

Healthy eating- are you eating the best that you can given your current life situation? Exploring how diet and the foods we eat can support general health and longevity in the martial arts.  Related, drinking water- most of us don’t drink enough, you have heard it and know it.

Physical fitness- being the best that you can be where you are right now. We all find ourselves entering the dojo at different point in life, but are on the same journey together- regarding personal fitness, start where you are and build from it. Working on flexibility, endurance, and building health to support your martial arts movement.

Walking- an important part of our taijutsu training is going for a walk in the open air and nature. Walking as a method of movement, fitness, and meditation. Are you walking enough?

Regardless of arts, style, discipline, or where you are in your current journey are you also incorporating these things in your training?

See you on the mat.

Located in Westchester New York, the Bujinkan Shinmyoken Dojo is a martial arts training group founded in 2005 with the aim of coming together as martial arts friends to study the Japanese martial art of Masaaki Hatsumi through the lessons of the Bujinkan dojo.

As friends (buyu) we come together to grow, learn, and share our individual potential in this wonderful martial art.

Questions, comments, feedback, and inquiries may be emailed to the group here:
