Ukemi Training Notes

This past class we explored ukemi taihenjutsu- specifically rolling from the ground up.

The first action point in training to keep in mind when learning forward, side, and back rolls.

When learning rolling for the first time, start as low to the ground as possible.

From a kneeling position, lower your shoulder slowly to the ground, using both your hands for balance and roll over.

Understanding that we don't want to impact the ground hard.

Rolling over in a relaxed manner and breathing naturally during the roll- don't hold your breath.

Gradually, as one becomes more comfortable with ukemi rolling from a standing position, and transitioning from using two arms, one arm, no arms.

See you in training!
