The Role Of The Dojo

What is the role of the dojo, and the members of the dojo?

Certainly it is a place to train in the way, a gathering point for those who are on the budo path.

But on this path, in the dojo, in that place, we are not against each other, but for each other.

In the dojo, there is no compitition with the other, with the members of the dojo, there is only competition with self.

From the outside looking in, the dojo seems like an odd place.

Members punching, kicking, and throwing each other around- it appears competition.

But inside the dojo, for those who are members, it is a place of compasion, a way for martial friends to gather and help each other.

Help in what way?

Help eliminate weakness in each other, eliminate faults, openings, and vulnerabilitues, so these points can not be used or exploited outside of the dojo.

Martial friendship.

See you on the mat!

Located in Westchester New York, the Bujinkan Shinmyoken Dojo is a martial arts training group founded in 2005 with the aim of coming together as martial arts friends to study the Japanese martial art of Masaaki Hatsumi through the lessons of the Bujinkan dojo.

As friends (buyu) we come together to grow, learn, and share our individual potential in this wonderful martial art.
