Sukui Dori Takagi Yoshin Ryu Kata

Sukui Dori Takagi Yoshin Ryu

Standing across from my training partner, both of us relaxed and aware of the moment about to come.

They begin by drawing the long sword, I respond naturally by…

…you want me to kick where?

Everything being able to live or die on my ability to connect a solid kick on a fast moving kyusho (weak point) with a sword moving behind it if I miss?

And the problem is what?

This *is* Takagi Yoshin Ryu.

At the point of entering practice with this kata, kicking should come naturally, and with proficiency through the Ten and Chi Ryaku no Maki sections of practice. The feet should be in use as easily as the hands.

Hundreds of hours being able to kick an appointed target.

So what’s the problem?
