When you think about *martial arts* do you think about walking?

As a martial artist pursuing perfection, how important is walking- walking correctly to you training and development?

Consider this.

Martial arts can be considered the elimination of mistakes- eliminating one’s mistakes in movement. A martial artist is always striving for perfection and this elimination of openings and mistakes in movement- movement in the martial arts.

Walking is a starting assessment of mistakes in terms of correct body alignment.

As one walks, what direction are the feet pointing in, how much of a step is one taking. Are they moving in correct alignment and balance?

What is the alignment of the body?

Are the hips aligned with the spine? Is the spine straight? Shoulders and head over the spine?

As one walks, are they moving correctly in terms of distance, timing, rhythm, and balance?

If not, how can the martial artists even begin to approach the various martial arts techniques, let alone working to apply them?
