A few training points from a recent class focusing on ken and keri kudaki.
In these training drills uke responds t a variety of punches and kicks by striking and attacking the arm or leg.
Not so much a block, more of a striking the incoming strike.
Naturally one of the focus points is to destroy the attacking limp, take it out of the movement for a few moments so it can’t be used again. In striking it this way, with very specific strikes, the attention of uke is taken to the limb or leg- putting the focus there for a moment which creates new opportunities and openings in movement.
Ken and keri kudaki are also used to disrupt the balance and timing of uke, so they can not effectually continue attacking.
