The martial arts is about a transmission- a special way of moving the body for a certain situation, similar to sports or dance. One is literally programming the body how to move without thinking- the idea of mushin- no thought.

Identifying the basic of your martial art and making this the foundation of daily practice.
For out martial art to budo taijutsu that foundation is found in ukemi, san shin no kata, kamae, and kihon happo.
This foundation is always an important part no matter how much time in with the ‘arts- one is always polishing it, but as a beginning these should be practiced above all else.
That will make best use of the momentum of those early years of training.
