Martial Arts Awareness

In the dojo we practice various waza and kata- martial arts techniques and forms, and in these forms there is a technical awareness of distance, timing, rhythm, and balance.

But, there is also an awareness that extends beyond the practice.

A question to ask?

What happens before the waza and after the waza?

There is a level of martial arts awareness that we cultivate that extends beyond *technique*, but is understood through technique.

Being aware of just who is around you and what the appropriate distance is for the situation.

The ability to move the body in balance, and with awareness of personal surroundings.

Something as simple as when one exists a store to the parking lot, is there a pause for a moment to be aware of the people, objects, and placement around you as one moves from one place to another?
